Volunteers Needed for Pender County Animal Response Team (CART)
8/12/2010 9:48:00 AM by Chase W.

Greetings,

Hurricane season is upon us, and Emergency Management is hard at work finalizing our resident disaster evacuation shelters. This year, we will hopefully be introducing a pet friendly shelter at the proposed location of Burgaw Middle School. This shelter will house both pets and their owners. We would like to ask you to help us with any donations available to make this shelter a possibility for our residents. Donations are not limited to money; we are in need of dog and cat food, perishable supplies, kennels, etc. However, most of our need comes in the form of volunteers and manpower. We would like to ask you to let us know if you are available to help in a disaster event to facilitate and assist in the operations of a pet shelter. Duties will include pet/owner registration, feeding, cleaning up, and keeping pets happy and calm. Volunteers that would be especially helpful have received HAZMAT and ICS 100/200 training.

If you, or someone you know, would be interested in assisting in a pet friendly shelter in Pender County, please respond to this message or give us a call at Pender County Emergency Management (910) 259-1210. Any donations can be made at 605 East Fremont St. Burgaw, NC 28425.

A Volunteer form is available at our website, www.penderem.com under documents/forms; or visit http://penderem.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=rRPkbJ98hwE%3d&tabid=101

Thank you again for time and consideration,

Pender Emergency Management Staff
